Kathryn Salfelder
Kathryn Salfelder (born 1987 in Paterson, New Jersey) is a contemporary American composer, conductor and pianist, based in the Boston area. Her orchestral compositions have been performed by the Minnesota Orchestra, Albany Symphony, New England Philharmonic, among others, and her works for wind ensemble are published by Boosey & Hawkes.
==Biography==
Born and raised in New Jersey, Kathryn Salfelder began studying music and composition at the age of 6 at the Bergen Yamaha Music School in Paramus. At thirteen, she began studying piano with Anthony R. Fedell. She attended Fair Lawn High School, and was a winner in the 2003 Andrew de Grado Piano Competition for her performance of Danzas Argentinas by Alberto Ginastera.
Kathryn studied with Michael Gandolfi at New England Conservatory, where she earned a B.M. in Composition with Academic Honors. She earned an M.M. in Composition from the Yale School of Music, where she studied under Aaron Jay Kernis and David Lang.
